All Things Biking

May is Bike Month and we love to celebrate in Dayton with plenty of things to get your pedal power going.   Some new things, some exciting regular things but all things to wish the summer in and to use your feet to work on the power of your body and bicycling:

Yellow Bikes—thanks to the Downtown Dayton Partnership and the Life Enrichment Center we should have 50 Yellow Bikes downtown to be used free of charge.  They will be unleashed at this Friday’s Urban Nights.  Use them to get around easy and see all the sights Dayton has to offer.  The yellow bikes will be available throughout the summer so enjoy! And get around on Dayton’s bike lanes fast and easy.

Urban Bikes and Urban Nights!  It is back, join us all in a police escorted bike parade around Downtown Dayton to celebrate the kickoff of Urban Nights.  Meet us at 5pm at 5/3rd Plaza.  We will be ending the ride at Courthouse square.  It is a great way to say welcome to all the Urban Nights dwellers and get used to biking on our city streets.

Bike to Work Day—This year meet up at Riverscape at the Bike Hub on May 20th before work and enjoy a free Pancake Breakfast before pedaling off to your day job.  Or, take the day off and pedal with us to the Kroc Center for the Cycling Summit.

Miami Valley Cycling Summit—This event only happens every other year and this year Dayton is proud to be the host of the Summit focusing on Cycling Sells Cities—come be a part of why more bikes = more economic activity.  It is also on May 20th and is from 10am to 4pm.  It is free and is at the fabulous Ray and Joan Kroc Center on Keowee St.

So kick off the bike season community style.  Can’t wait to see you all on the lanes this May!
